Couple Finds Success in Houston-Area Painting Business
Ken and Angela Thompson haven’t always called Brazoria County home. Since braving the cold winters in Michigan, the Thompsons decided maybe a change — and a different climate — would be the best option for their future.
“We have a lot of family and friends down here, and we visited them often,” Ken Thompson said. “There is so much in the Houston area and they kept encouraging us to go ahead and move down here.”
More changes were beginning to spark for the couple, which included drastic career shifts that would draw them even closer to the allure of a fresh new start in what we all like to call “B County.” A new idea was blossoming in the heart of Iowa Colony, and the Thompsons were prepared to see it flourish.
“We went from our previous roles to helping homeowners with their residential and commercial painting needs,” Angela Thompson said. “We came from that generation where we worked for companies for many years, we both worked with our companies for 25 years, so it’s been a shift from working for someone to now working for ourselves.”
Serving The Local Community
Fresh Coat Painters of Iowa Colony, a new painting company, has made its mark in the Houston and Iowa Colony areas through its quality service and professional painting services. After the Thompsons purchased the company, their passion for the community and getting boots on the ground in the business world has pushed them forward in all their endeavors.
“We purchased Fresh Coat Painters of Iowa Colony, which is an interior and exterior painting company.” Ken Thompson said. “We just got started recently and it’s just really refreshing to start something completely new.”
Even though having a painting company wasn’t the initial plan, the couple has treasured the journey it’s brought into their lives and doesn’t intend on stopping anytime soon. Although just starting their business, their minds are already fixed on the future and how they can take Fresh Coat Painters of Iowa Colony to the next level.
“We knew we wanted to start a business, because we wanted that flexibility business ownership can offer and the more control you have with financial stability,” Angela Thompson said. “I have a background in franchising so I understand how it all works and that has very much helped us in this whole process.”
The couple celebrated their presence in the area with a June ribbon-cutting hosted by the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. With the Fresh Coat Painters of Iowa Colony name spreading all over the Houston area, it won’t be hard for the Thompsons to fit right into their new home.
Building a Legacy Through Growth
“We came upon Fresh Coat Painters at the right time and it really made sense for us,” Ken Thompson said. “We have found a great area to live in and we’re very much enjoying sort of the city lifestyle compared to what we had in Michigan.”
Growing the company is what the couple cares about the most, and seeing that growth change their lives and the lives of those around them is something they love to see, Angela Thompson said. With constant change and enrichment happening in the Iowa Colony area, they feel proud and honored to be a part of those waves and hope to keep making those ripples.
“We are part of something big and right where we need to be,” Ken Thompson said. “Fresh Coat is an established and growing company, and this area in Iowa Colony is just growing in leaps and bounds.”
There are bright futures ahead for Fresh Coat Painters of Iowa Colony, and the excitement the couple shares isn’t even close to fading. They are passionate about what they do and aren’t afraid to do hard work when they need to. Even if the journey has been an unexpected one, that’s what has made it even better.
“We’re seeing the growth here, and it’s very exciting, especially that we get to be a part of it.” Angela Thompson said. “There’s new communities and businesses that are just expanding and growing constantly.”
